Andy Coyle writes poetry, plays and short fiction, and he delivers his work like a true storyteller. He is a master of the spoken word, performing slam poetry and epic poetry to take his audience on a journey or adventure.
His first collection Ode to the Cyclist and other poems was published in 2015. He has had a play performed by the award-winning performance group ‘The Clinic’. A feature-length performance has been set to music by a 7 piece jazz-rock ensemble, and he has had a poem painted as a mural in the seaside suburb of New Brighton.
He performs across the nation at jazz and literary festivals, street events and poetry shows. He has appeared in a number of festivals, including the Christchurch Word Festival, The Wellington Jazz Festival, The Newtown Street Festival, LitCrawl Wellington, The Lyttelton Street Party, The Lyttelton Festival of Lights, Fringe Festivals in Auckland, Wellington, and Dunedin, and community event programmes in Christchurch. He has represented Christchurch at the national Poetry Slam finals and we welcome him to the stage this year to celebrate adventure sports and lifestyle through the medium of poetry.
