Introduction

60mins, Director: Carla Braun-Elwert, NZ, Subtitles: Some

In 1985, Gottlieb Braun-Elwert and two friends set out on a spectacular ski crossing of New Zealand’s Southern Alps. They covered over 40km and 4000 vertical metres, from Godley Valley to Fox Glacier, in only 18 hours. He named the route Symphony on Skis. Thirty years later, Carla Braun-Elwert pays tribute to her late father by creating this film with her sister Elke. Gottlieb’s classic route and philosophies are brought to life in a moving journey.
